Located in Calvert, 35 miles north of Mobile, Alabama, our state-of-the-art steel processing facility has the capacity to process 5.3 million tons of high-value steel grades in the North America market. OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Lead Quality efforts with core teams including but not limited to problem solving, guidance, training, and communication of issues.
  • Ensure progression and completion of thorough HDGL corrective actions and A3’s
  •     Investigations of customer claims and TCS inquiries with thorough and timely responses. Occasional support at customer locations as necessary.
  •     Execute production containments as needed, and follow through final disposition
  •     Creates and carries out improvement projects and quality studies
  •     Use Quality data to drive improvements
  •     Coaching of inspectors and operators on quality related issues.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Participate in core team meetings. Lead quality efforts with core teams and inspection. Share quality related information, internal and external. Drive improvements based on quality data.
  • Coordinate and ensure progression and completion of HDGL corrective actions and A3’s using documented problem-solving methods.
  • Investigate and respond to customer claims and TCS inquiries. Maintain investigations and responses per team standards.  Support quality related issues at customer locations when mill representation is necessary.
  • Be a technical resource for quality related issues.
  • Execute production containments as needed, and follows through to final disposition
  • Create and lead improvement projects and quality studies
  • Participate in and support audits, both international standards and customer-based.
  • Use Quality data to drive improvements. Generate reports and data for quality issues and quality analysis. Develop and improve on current methods. Use data for targeted improvements.

  • Ensure working knowledge of competencies as defined in ISO 14001:2015, IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 17025:2017 

 

EDUCATION & ACCREDITATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering, or other related degree

 

KNOWLEDGE:   

  • Prefer 5+ years of experience in steel production or quality related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of product defects and effects on final product
  • Knowledge of customer processes including forming and stamping
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems and processes      

 

SKILLS: 

  • Demonstrates strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to competently handle a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal communications skills, written and verbal
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic and displays a high degree of professionalism
  • Interest and ability to work at our site location in Calvert, Alabama

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Mill/Office Environment       

                    

HOURS OF WORK:

  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
  • Participates in on-call rotation
