The Area Manager of Central Maintenance Execution will be responsible for providing technical support and leadership for Central Maintenance Execution & Field Shift teams for proactive work implementation and policy integration. The Area Manager utilizes assigned resources to maintain and troubleshoot equipment, HVAC, and power distribution systems. This role will also be responsible for process improvements and optimizations, performance analysis, and leadership to meet the business needs of AM/NS Calvert.

 BASICS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Science or a comparable field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in manufacturing related to operations or maintenance including 3 years in a manager role
  • Ability to lead and develop maintenance personnel and organizations
  • 5-10 years’ experience with direct responsibility for the operation, maintenance, and reliability of complex mechanical and electrical systems, to include knowledge in the following:
  • Good working knowledge of the ARP (Asset Reliability Process)
  • Experience negotiating with and directing third party (contractor) partners
  • Possess a strong “internal” customer focus
  • Understand the interdependent needs of an integrated mill and how to service them
  • Competent in medium voltage distribution systems operation and maintenance practices
  • Use of Mechanical and electrical hand tools, as well as test equipment
  • Equipment balancing and alignment methodologies and practices
  • Knowledge of root cause failure analysis methodology
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products

EXTRAS:

  • Knowledge of flat rolled steel products and processes and related technology preferred
  • SAP/MMS experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of change management and communication principles and methodologies preferred
  • Extensive outage resource planning and management experience desired

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Provide training to co-workers and help maintain Standard Operating Procedures, Best Practices and Job Safe Practices to ensure the transfer of knowledge to others
  • Champion Journey to Zero in Central Maintenance
  • Ensure regulatory compliance – environmental, occupational health and safety including Power and Distribution, and HVAC equipment as well as Infrastructure such as properties, roads, rail buildings, etc.
  • Ensure the efficient and reliable supply of support services to Manufacturing Business Units
  • Foster an environment that supports World Class Continuous Improvement with focus on Professional Maintenance
  • Support a culture of employee engagement, promoting a positive working environment
  • Ensure development of hourly workforce, staff, and leadership capability
  • Fulfill responsibilities within the Asset Reliability Management Policy and Program
  • Champion “Equipment and Reliability” as part of Manufacturing Reliability by “championing” principles and policies for Effective Asset Reliability Processes
  • Development and achievement of department business plan and budget, administration of department and development of employees
  • Develop short- and long-term strategies to optimize and ensure ongoing asset capability and reliability to maximize value for AM/NS Calvert
  • Collaborate effectively with other leaders and processes for overall optimization for AM/NS Calvert
  • Focus on optimizations of processes resulting in better financial controls
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of benchmarking; best in class performance to ensure long term business competitiveness
