Area Manager – Operations ACL (Annealing & Coating Line) & SPG (Slitting & Packaging)

The ideal candidate will participate as a member of the ArcelorMittal NOES (non-grain-oriented electric steels) Project Team as the leader of the manufacturing team within the annealing, coating, and slitting/packaging area. This candidate will join a project team launching the 600,000+ square foot facility, recruit and hire the operations team, participate in commissioning the plant and lead the team of approximately 40 team members as the business ramps up.

 

The Basics:

  • Has earned a bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Operations or Business Management curriculum
  • Has a minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing disciplines
  • Experience with manufacturing team leadership, problem solving, and human development
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning and applying technical subject matter
  • Ability to understand and apply quality control concepts
  • Has a documented record of reinforcing an adherence with safety and environmental standards and regulations
  • Proficiency in MS Office products
  • Ability to travel and participate in benchmarking trips in other regions

 

The Extras:

  • Experience working on a greenfield plant launch or plant start-up is preferred
  • Experience utilizing materials science concepts (steel, aluminum, cast iron) is preferred
  • In depth knowledge of steelmaking, as well as the heat treatment and coating of steel, would be beneficial
  • Experience working with diverse teams is preferred
  • Working knowledge of SAP applications preferred

  • Participating in a project team as a critical team member
  • Serve as the primary link between engineering resources and maintenance resources
  • Hiring and developing competent operating staff
  • Creating and maintaining adherence to safety management systems
  • Identifying efficiency losses and improving results through continuous improvement activities
  • Ensuring compliance with standards of safety and quality
  • Performance and development management of team members
  • Establish and oversee KPI’s
  • Develop workforce training plan
  • Develop and maintain seat map and goals for department
  • Develop and maintain department budget
  • Coordination of production activities once build is complete
  • Demonstrate the company values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Relationships, and Sustainability
  • Fulfill the commitment to ensure a safe and healthy work environment

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Office, Construction, and Industrial setting
  • Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL
  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
