Area Manager - Project Management

Located in Calvert, 35 miles north of Mobile, Alabama, our state-of-the-art steel processing facility has the capacity to process 5.3 million tons of high-value steel grades in the North America market. DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

 

The ideal candidate will lead the project engineering team to achieve advanced levels of project management in collaboration with other business units to govern capital projects within the maintenance and engineering department in support of the business goals of AM/NS Calvert.

 

The Basics

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a combination of education and experience 
  • 5+ years’ demonstrated experience supporting engineering and project management requirements in a steel mill or other heavy industrial environment
  • Experience with planning and scheduling
  • Experience managing and coordinating contractors to ensure timely completion of jobs
  • Extensive experience with project and process documentation

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Management of the Capital Portfolio and associated business planning activities
  • Develop the project engineering team members to achieve high levels of efficiency in project management within approved budgets
  • Organizing, planning, and managing engineering construction and capital expenditures relating to plant expansions
  • Providing development, management, and continuous improvement of the project management system
  • Providing transparent capital tracking updates to corporate team
  • Defining, updating, and managing process maps and associated instructions and forms utilized for project management
  • Managing Capital budget, project scheduling, manning and resource allocation
  • Providing communication of company policies, notices, conducting oral and written performance reviews and equitable assignment of work to team member
  • Identifying and implementing best practices for project management for cost efficiencies
  • Leading advanced manufacturing initiatives on the site to leverage the latest technology for improved manufacturing efficiency
  • Participating in continuous improvement of both Equipment and Product/Process performance, thereby improving the overall Business Unit performance
  • Benchmarking – Participate in identifying best in class technical benchmarks, performance gaps and the development of plans to close the gaps
  • Participating in the development and execution of the Business Plan

 

               

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Office and industrial setting   
  • Gulf coast region in Calvert, Alabama 
  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
