DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

The ideal candidate will lead, support, and develop a technical team dedicated to Steelmaking Process Technology activities to effectively support AM/NS Calvert’s business objectives. The Area Manager will analyze process performance and lead continuous improvement for all Steelmaking Processes. Leading major improvement projects - utilizing systematic methodology – to improve product capabilities, output, cost, yield, energy, logistics, and environmental performance.

The Basics

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Operations Management field
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a progressive leadership role
  • Background in all major steel mill processes and products, with particular in–depth knowledge of Steelmaking, Refining, Degassing, and Casting process technology, with solid understanding from quality point of view
  • Basic understanding of heat, mass transfer, and material plasticity
  • Demonstrated knowledge of liquid steel processing and casting
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to effectively work cross-functionally with various groups
  • Ability to develop and deliver technical presentations at senior management level
  • Proficiency in MS Office products

 WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Direct Management of Steelmaking Process Engineers and Metallurgists
  • Provides technical support for Steelmaking, including timely and appropriate management
  • Responsible for regular reporting of Steelmaking process performance to senior management
  • Fulfill the commitment to ensure a safe and healthy work environment
  • Fulfill the responsibilities required to achieve the Quality Commitment and Environmental Commitment
  • Ensure working knowledge of competencies as defined in ISO 14001 (current version), IATF 16949 (current version), and ISO 17025 (current version)

 

YOUR WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Mill setting – Steelmaking Industrial Environment in addition to Office setting
  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads or weekend coverage
