DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES? 

The Casting Operations Specialist supports the operational process of casting, providing guidance to shift crews in the production of quality slabs within the highly automated Steelmaking mill to meet the business goals of AM/NS Calvert.  

  

The Basics: 

  • Process control knowledge; equipment and production parameters 

  • Technical knowledge of caster processes and/or equipment 

  • 3+ years of experience as an engineer, specialist or coordinator in a caster-focused position 

  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office products (i.e. Excel) 

  

The Extras: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related; or equivalent experience 

  • SAP knowledge a plus

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING  

  • Follow up and evaluate casters performances: production, cost & quality KPI and identify appropriate counter measure in case of non-achievement of performance targets 

  • Check and ensure casters to comply with environmental regulations 

  • Follow up caster process parameters, identify deviations to standard and implement corrective measures 

  • Lead or participate to incident root cause analysis and corrective actions for every kind of failures: safety incident, environmental deviation, slab quality deviation and production loses 

  • Write & update work instructions for casters operations and organize related HIRAC review 

  • Lead or participate in some continuous improvement activities 

  • Perform product trials through Casters with the guideline of technology team while providing process expertise 

  • Update casters process parameters according to last update of grade practice sheet and to optimizes productivity, capacity, energy and consumption 

  • Work with EAF, LMF, RH, refractory maintenance interfaces for the overall benefit of steel making mill 

  • Optimize in interfaces with HSM and production planning slabs hot charging and logistic 

  • Organize slabs conditioning activities with contractor 

  • Fulfill the commitment to ensure a safe and healthy work environment 

  

  

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • Office and Industrial setting in the Steel Making Facility 

  • Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL 

  • During project phase: Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads. Exceptionally on weekend for special circumstances 

  • During operations phase: Rotating 12-hour shift rotation to include nights, weekend, and holidays
