Located in Calvert, 35 miles north of Mobile, Alabama, our state-of-the-art steel processing facility has the capacity to process 5.3 million tons of high-value steel grades in the North America market. The Electrical Maintenance Specialist ensures readiness and availability of the electrical power, drives, and automation functionality of the HSM, as well as the utilization and availability of electrical spare parts under the point quality and costs. This position is responsible for analysis, coordination, and cooperative efforts for maintenance needs.


The Basics:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a Hot Strip Process or 10 years electrical maintenance in an industrial environment
  • 5+ years’ of experience working with TCS, Siemens Drives, Siemens hardware and good understanding HSM electrical maintenance
  • Knowledge in power feeding and distribution systems
  • Knowledge in motors and drives and technological functions
  • Knowledge in sensor actor systems / field bus systems (Profibus, CAN bus, decentralized I/O Systems (ET200)
  • Knowledge in process data acquisition systems (IBA), HMI Systems (FactoryLink)
  • Knowledge in network technology (Ethernet)
  • Knowledge in PID Loop Controls
  • Knowledge of High Voltage and construction techniques
  • Demonstrates knowledge of how to use electrical tools, meters, Meggers, and other electrical testing equipment
  • Knowledge in SAP, Microsoft Office Products
  • Demonstrates strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to competently handle a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal communications skills, written and verbal
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic and displays a high degree of professionalism
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)

The Extras:

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering Preferred



  • Understanding of standard programming principles and practices to include logical instances and cycles, calling functions and modular programming for logic reuse
  • Competencies in multiple programming platforms with use of ladder logic, function block and textual/statement list logic
  • Understanding of different memory types and their uses in a control system




  • Provide technical leadership of the Shift Electricians and Day Shift Electricians
  • Analyze short term and long-term data to detect trends and shifts in process
  • Research industry best practices, troubleshoot and detect process failure modes
  • Ensures the coordination and cooperation with the Specialists in Mechanical Maintenance for the area
  • Take part in the daily meetings and briefings on maintenance situations
  • Clarify sources for maintenance disturbances in cooperation with the mechanical maintenance personnel
  • Support unscheduled maintenance activities and be support for the shift electricians
  • Planning of the fixed maintenance line break downs regarding the whole electrical activities
  • Care and support the SAP PM System regarding electrical maintenance items
  • Care and support the EXP/ PDM program regarding the Power and Drives items

  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
