Located in Calvert, 35 miles north of Mobile, Alabama, our state-of-the-art steel processing facility has the capacity to process 5.3 million tons of high-value steel grades in the North America market. OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Provide Automation Engineering support to the business goals of the Hot Dipped Galvanizing lines.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:      

  • Provide technical leadership in a high automated production facility
  • Lead and participate in continues improvement with focus on automation of the production process of galvanize coating lines and inspections lines to increase productivity, availability and efficiency
  • Lead and participate in root cause failure analysis.
  • Continuously optimization of the process automation with Programmable Logic Control P80i (GE software) and S7(Siemens software).
  • Analyze and optimize process data and programmable logic controller (PLC) with P80i (GE software) and S7(Siemens software) and other common programmable logic controller software.
  • Lead and participate in commissioning of new equipment.
  • Improve process automation by leading and supporting sensor improvement projects
  • Responsible for planning improvement activities using SAP software
  • Support training, coaching, and mentoring for technicians and operator staff in the preventative maintenance and operation of equipment.
  • 100 % compliance with Safety and Environmental standards
  • Work in interdisciplinary in process improvement activities.
  • Work in interdisciplinary teams in coordination with Process Engineers and Mechanical Engineers in day to day line activities.

  • Ensures working knowledge of competencies as defined in ISO 9001:2015/IATF 16949 and ISO 14001:2015

 

EDUCATION & ACCREDITATION:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Industrial Electricity or related field required

 

KNOWLEDGE:    

  • Demonstrated experience with Power feeding, Motor Control Centers, and Medium /Low Voltage distribution systems
  • Industrial process automation systems
  • PLC Process Sequences
  • GE P80i, Siemens S7, Siemens Portal, and Human Machine Interface
  • Motors and Variable Frequency Drives
  • Regulation of Variable Frequency Drive with PLC systems
  • LAN systems, Profibus Communication, and Canbus Communication
  • Microsoft word, Excel, Office, and Project
  • Industrial safety systems             

 

SKILLS: 

  • Demonstrates strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to competently handle a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal communications skills, written and verbal
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic and displays a high degree of professionalism
  • Interest and ability to work at our site location in Calvert, Alabama

HOURS OF WORK:

  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
