Created in February 2014 through a 50/50 joint venture of the world’s largest and second largest steelmakers, ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation, AM/NS Calvert is located in Calvert, AL.  Our state-of-the-art steel processing facility has the capacity to process 5.3 million tons of high-value steel grades including hot rolled bands, hot rolled pickled and oiled, cold rolled, and advanced coated products for the automotive, pipe and tube, appliance/HVAC, service center and construction industries in the NAFTA market.  

AM/NS Calvert products are marketed in NAFTA through managing joint venture partner ArcelorMittal.



OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY: Ensuring the readiness and availability of the electrical, and in some cases the mechanical, functionality of the Cold Roll Mill.



  • Responsible for the overall electrical, and in some cases also mechanical, maintenance of Cold Roll Mill on a turn basis in performing required scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and trouble-shooting
  • Supports the coordinator, leads, senior maintenance technicians, and process coordinators in fulfilling their tasks
  • Analysis, trouble shooting, solving and reporting of problems and failures
  • Support development of improvement programs
  • Ensure proper safety, environmental, quality and housekeeping responsibilities are maintained
  • Supports the mechanical colleagues in failure investigation
  • Takeover and fulfilling of maintenance work orders on a scheduled and unscheduled basis
  • Orders spare parts from the spare part warehouse
  • Ensures proper turnover with on-coming and off-going crew during shift change
  • Cooperating with other maintenance departments
  • Fulfills the commitment to ensure a safe and healthy work environment

  • Ensures working knowledge of competencies as defined in ISO 9001:2015/IATF 16949 and ISO 14001:2015



  • High School Diploma Required
  • Internship or Associates Degree Preferred



  • Prefer 3 years Electrical maintenance experience
  • Prefer experience in the steel industry



  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, and to understand electrical/electronic components/inverters
  • Basics of digital technology, programmable logic controllers (PLC), automation, VFD’s and instrumentation
  • Ability to work with electrical measurement
  • Knowledge of AC motors, drives, sensors, actors, motor controls and industrial electrical systems <600V
  • Knowledge of switchgears
  • Basic sensors as; photo eyes, prox’s, limit switches, valves, solenoids, etc. 
  • Computer skills to include knowledge of network technology, Microsoft Office, and SAP
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic and mechanical drawings as well as P&ID's
  • Experience/knowledge of coil transport systems, inspection lines, furnaces, power distribution systems, motors, variable frequency drives, automation systems, measurement systems, instrumentation equipment, and hydraulic systems.
  • Demonstrates strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to competently handle a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal communications skills, written and verbal
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic and displays a high degree of professionalism
  • Interest and ability to work at our site location in Calvert, Alabama 



  • Industrial/mill environment



  • Shift Work – Rotating 12 hour shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays
