Located in Calvert, 35 miles north of Mobile, Alabama, our state-of-the-art steel processing facility has the capacity to process 5.3 million tons of high-value steel grades in the North America market. The ideal candidate will provide new product commercialization support through expertise, analytical, and communication skills within the production chains to meet the business goals of AM/NS Calvert. 

The Basics:

  • Knowledge in steel industry relevant disciplines including; mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physical and chemical theory (thermodynamics and reaction kinetics), mathematics, and process control - automation
  • Proficient to intermediate experience or academic knowledge in at least one step of iron and steel processing (ex. melt shop and casting, hot rolling, cold rolling, annealing and  coating, etc.)
  • Basic experience in welding and forming technology
  • Proven skills in data analytics and root cause analyses
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)

The Extras:

  • Masters or PhD in ferrous metallurgy, material science, or mechanical engineering with  understanding of steel as a material for applications in the automotive and other industries
  • Proficient to intermediate experience in mechanical testing
  • Knowledgeable in data extraction (data-mining) and statistical data analyses



  • Demonstrates strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Anticipates and adopts innovations in business-building technology applications
  • Builds partnerships and works collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
  • Identifies the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness in product ramp up into profitability
  • Ability to develop and provide training within the operations and quality organization




  • Support concept review for new products for feasibility and commercialization commitment at AM/NS
  • Govern assigned projects during the industrial implementation phase at AM/NS
  • Design the lay-out of mill trials
  • Lead the execution of mill trials in the context of the governing respective development project
  • Document and interpret trial results and customer feed-back, order and disposition material
  • Connect with R&D and marketing entities for input, accompanying studies and customer application demands 
  • Integrate operations, technology, and quality entities in all process steps at AM/NS for early optimization, learning and automatization of new products’ manufacturing

  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
