DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

The ideal candidate will provide supervisory support through direct supervision and coordination within the highly automated HSM to meet the business goals of AM/NS Calvert. 

 

The Basics:

  • 4+ years of leadership experience in steel mill and/or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or 4 years of military leadership experience
  • Previous experience in a Hot Rolling/Heating/Roll Shop
  • Roll Grinder or CNC experience
  • Previous experience in a production leadership position
  • Steel industry knowledge
  • Proficient in computer programs to include Microsoft Office Suite and SAP

 

The Extras:

  • SAP experience preferred
  • Root Cause Analysis experience preferred

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Safety investigations, reporting, and presenting results
  • Responsible for maintaining and improving the safety, order, and cleanliness of the HSM
  • Supervise and direct HSM Roll shop operations personnel on the specific duties to accomplish production requirements and objectives
  • Effectively calculating, planning, and executing shim planning following established processes and procedures
  • Track attendance and vacations, timekeeping, time corrections, ensuring vacation coverage in Dayforce (timekeeping system)
  • Coordinate training of team members.
  • Promote teamwork
  • Enforce company policies using coaching and disciplinary recommendations
  • Effectively communicate information from management to team members and coordinate daily and monthly  safety team  meetings
  • Work closely with Maintenance team to diagnose problems, find corrections, and communicate clearly in daily shift report
  • Responsible for documentation and reporting issues in the mill with root cause analysis and possible solutions
  • Supporting and facilitating development of team members including succession planning
  • Assisting in teardown and buildup of R1, R2, and backup rolls
  • Chocking and de-chocking

 

 

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Office and Industrial setting in the Hot Strip Mill
  • Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL
  • Shift Work – Rotating 12 hour shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays
