DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

The ideal candidate will be dedicated to improving workforce performance, reducing human error, and strengthening operational excellence activities to effectively support ArcelorMittal Calvert’s business objectives. The Human Reliability Specialist will collaborate across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Process Safety, Reliability, Quality, and Leadership teams to improve human performance, organizational learning, and operational resilience.

 

 

The Basics

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Safety, Human Factors, Industrial Technology, Organizational Development, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered. Experience requirement
    • Minimum 5 years of industrial experience in manufacturing, refining, petrochemical, energy, mining, or other high-hazard industries.
    • Knowledge of Human Reliability Analysis methods, Human Factors Engineering principles, Process Safety Management systems, and risk assessment methodologies.
    • Strong technical skills in Root Cause Analysis, causal learning techniques, data analysis, performance trending, and organizational effectiveness principles.
    • Experience in one or more of the following:
      • Process Safety Management (PSM)
      • Reliability Engineering
      • Operations Leadership
      • Human Factors Engineering
      • Operational Excellence
      • Incident Investigation
      • Safety Management Systems

 

 

The Extras

    • Professional certifications related to Process Safety, Reliability, Safety, Human Factors, or Operational Excellence.
    • Experience facilitating Human Performance Improvement (HPI) initiatives
    • Experience supporting high-risk industrial operations or large manufacturing facilities.
    • Knowledge of change management and culture transformation methodologies.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

    • Provides support for site-wide Human Reliability and Human Performance Improvement programs.
    • Responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining a comprehensive Human Reliability Program.
    • Conduct assessments to identify human performance risks and recommend improvements to reduce complexity and improve workforce effectiveness.
    • Facilitate Human Performance Improvement initiatives and promote best practices including pre-job briefings, peer checks, procedure use and adherence, stop-work authority, effective shift handoffs, and critical communication protocols.
    • Develop leading indicators and performance metrics to monitor human reliability effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
    • Support incident investigations by evaluating organizational and human performance factors and recommending sustainable corrective actions.
    • Develop and deliver human reliability and organizational learning training programs.
    •  Coach supervisors and managers on leadership behaviors that improve workforce performance and operational discipline.
    • Facilitate lessons learned sharing, workforce engagement activities, and knowledge transfer initiatives.
    • Support capital projects and facility modifications by providing human factors and operational risk input.
    • Work with leadership teams to strengthen safety culture, process safety, reliability, and operational excellence programs.
