Located in Calvert, 35 miles north of Mobile, Alabama, our state-of-the-art steel processing facility has the capacity to process 5.3 million tons of high-value steel grades in the North America market. OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY/PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Responsible for daily engineering support of AM/NS Calvert data and voice networks, as well as the network operations team.

 

EDUCATION, ACCREDITATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study or equivalent experience in a similar position
  • 2+ years demonstrated experience in Cisco NX-OS operations/engineering role (to include virtual port-channel implementation, monitoring, and troubleshooting)
  • 2+ years demonstrated experience in Cisco Catalyst 6500 IOS operations/engineering role (to include virtual switching system implementation, monitoring, and troubleshooting)
  • 2+ years demonstrated experience in Cisco Voice operations/engineering role (to include CUCM 8 or above)
  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM platform preferred
  • At least 5+ years of professional IT experience, including 3+ years of infrastructure experience
  • Cisco certifications preferred
  • Technical certifications like MCSE, MCSA, or MCTS preferred
  • Security certifications (i.e. Security+, CEH, CISM, or CISSP) preferred

 

                                                                                                                                                               

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Design and document enhancements and changes to existing wired and voice networks in support of projects as directed by Manager of IT Infrastructure
  • Provide incident response escalation to network operations team
  • Provide incident root-cause analysis and identify mitigation steps to prevent future incidents.
  • Monitor network components and network status to identify risks of communication and application outages that require mitigation
  • Drive efforts to improve network stability and availability for applications and supporting infrastructure
  • Drive resolution of communication outages impacting IT infrastructure
  • Provide problem resolution for complex issues
  • Participate and drive business continuity and recovery of company's information systems, including needs analysis, design, plan, implementation and documentation
  • Participate in development of design strategy, including technology standardization and modernization, and engineering best practices
  • Manage priorities, projects, schedules, resources, issues and risks effectively

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Working knowledge of Network Infrastructure components: Cisco ISR, Cisco Catalyst 2900, 3700, 3850, 6500 Cisco Nexus 7010, Cisco ASA 5500, Checkpoint Firewalls
  • Working knowledge of Cisco Collaboration products
  • Ability to work collaboratively and in a hands-on manner with technical and executive professionals
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal communications and complex problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates advanced written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to develop presentations and present to senior management
  • Extensive experience of customer and supplier relationships
  • Experience in enterprise applications, solutions, and data center infrastructures
  • Able to competently handle a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic and displays a high degree of professionalism

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Interest and ability to work at our site location in Calvert, Alabama

  • Days, Monday – Friday, with ability to work some evenings and weekend hours as needed
