DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES? 

The ideal candidate for Area Manager of Melting & Refining will initially play a critical role in the Mechanical design, construction, and start-up phases of our brand-new Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), Ladle Metallurgy Furnace, Vacuum Tank Degassing, Bag House, and associated support equipment. 

The Basics:

  • Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related field
  • At least 10 years of leadership experience in operations position in steelmaking
  • Experience with improvement projects that increased reliability, throughput, yield or generated cost savings
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Advanced decision-making and problem-solving skills; Analytical skills, with ability to collect, distill, and analyze data
  • Technical proficiency with EAF operation and Ladle Metallurgy

The Extras:

  • Experience with World Class Manufacturing, Lean, or Reliability Centered Maintenance implementation

  • Operating a World Class Steelmaking facility
  • Support leadership initiatives
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by assessing potential hazards and ensuring completion of all necessary training

  • Drives standard work processes, KPI visibility, accountability, and action planning across organization
  • Accountable for achieving Key Performance Indicators established in the business plan (safety, reliability, throughput, quality, cost)
  • Accountable for supporting the development, implementation, and adherence to the Equipment Maintenance Program
  • Adherence to Operating budget
  • Benchmark performance against similar facilities to identify improvement opportunities
  • Drive business planning, budgeting, budget control

  • Office and Industrial setting in the Melt Shop
  • Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL
  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads, particularly during construction and start up phases
