The ideal candidate will act as an operations lead for projects, product improvements, associated costs and issues related to the Welder and Furnace in the Hot Dip Galvanizing Mill to meet the business goals of AM/NS Calvert. 


The Basics:
•    Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
•    2+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment
•    Experience in Failure investigation and Root Cause Analysis in industrial or steel manufacturing environment
•    Proficiency in using tools to develop tracking systems and dashboards
•    Experience with project management
•    Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)


The Extras: 
•    Experience using SAP and MES preferred
•    Knowledge of welding and furnace equipment
•    Knowledge of monitoring costs in high paced environments



•    Ability to interact with multiple stakeholders, work in small and large teams
•    Willingness to work directly with Hourly Technicians and Contractors closely to affect proper work practices and successful work execution

•    Complete any assigned RCFA (root cause failure analysis) action items (Ensure you are involved in any Furnace or Welder related events)
•    Maintain a Furnace & Welder Dashboard - Review relevant KPI data and maintain a prioritized issue tracking document 
•    Involves monitoring – Reliability, Quality, Productivity & Operating Costs for that area
•    Be prepared to present a status update on designated areas every 8 weeks to the Operations Management group
•    Participate in Daily News meetings for Hot Dip Galvanizing Lines – acting as an Operations lead for issues affecting the Welder & Furnace
•    Maintain the Tech/Financial approval logs for all Furnace & Welding Items within HDG 
•    Lead the Welder Bi-Weekly team meetings - reviewing critical production issues & ensure the core team is focusing resources to the appropriate areas
•    Maintain the Welding Recipe Tables – Coordinate trials/implementation of new products & modifications to improve existing recipes
•    Develop & Track Value Plan initiatives affecting designated areas 
•    Help coordinate any approved CAPEX project work requirements affecting the Furnace or Welder – Acting as Operations liaison in support of Integration group
•    Actively Participate in the HDGL Safety Program, meeting outlined requirements for: Layered Audits, Safety Meetings, Housekeeping Inspections & Shop Floor Audits
•    Benchmarking: Identifying best in class quality management benchmarks - highlight performance gaps and develop plans to close them

•    Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
