DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
The ideal candidate will provide engineering support to the product design and technical order management functions to meet the business goals of the new Non-Oriented Electrical Steel (NOES) manufacturing facility within ArcelorMittal Calvert.
The Basics:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; materials, metallurgical, mechanical or chemical focus preferred
- Experience in research, operations, quality assurance, product development and/or manufacturing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)
- Working knowledge in statistics and use of statistical tools (like Minitab)
- Experience in programming (any language) and use of relational databases
- Experience in applying metallurgical and process models
- Experience in data analysis
The Extras:
- Masters degree in Engineering; materials, metallurgical, mechanical or chemical focus preferred
- Understanding of steel as a material for electromagnetic applications
- Proficient to intermediate experience in establishing manufacturing and/or quality systems (SAP, MES, etc.)
- Proficient to intermediate experience in mechanical testing
- Proficient to intermediate experience in failure analysis and problem-solving.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Develop and maintain production practices, quality and certification procedures within the company’s business systems for different steel grades and ensure they meet the latest revisions of the industry standards and/or customer material specifications.
- Review customer purchase orders and set up the production orders with the appropriate production and quality practices.
- Review technical holds on production coils and disposition them suitably. Report the holds to the appropriate team members and participate in analysis and resolution.
- Collaborate with Operations, Technology, Quality, Global R&D and marketing entities. Regularly lead new product commercialization and manufacturing cost improvement initiatives
- Plan and execute mill trials in a cost efficient and resourceful manner

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Office and Industrial setting at ArcelorMittal Calvert production site with one day work from home a week
- Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL
- Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
