Production Scheduler
Created in February 2014 through a 50/50 joint venture of the world’s largest and second largest steelmakers, ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation, AM/NS Calvert is located in Calvert, Ala. Our state-of-the-art steel processing facility has the capacity to process 5.3 million tons of high-value steel grades including hot rolled bands, hot rolled pickled and oiled, cold rolled, and advanced coated products for the automotive, pipe and tube, appliance/HVAC, service center and construction industries in the NAFTA market.
AM/NS Calvert products are marketed in NAFTA through managing joint venture partner ArcelorMittal.
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
The ideal candidate will provide production planning support through scheduling, data analysis, and report generation within the highly automated Steelmaking facilities to meet the business goals of AM/NS Calvert.
The Basics:
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or 2+ years of experience in Production Scheduling, Supply Chain Management or Production Planning
- Creating detailed production schedules for the manufacturing facilities that align with the goals of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction
The Extras:
- SAP experience with a focus on MRP
- 2+ years in inventory planning experience
- Experience in a continuous production environment
- Primary metals manufacturing with focus in steel casting preferred
TRAITS TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with emphasis in Excel
- Detailed understanding of manufacturing product flow, data flow, manufacturing constraints and objectives in the order life cycle
- Strong oral and written communication
- Strong attention to detail and personal initiative
- Strong ability to problem solve
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Production scheduling, data analysis, operations planning, and report generation
- Monitoring and managing the processes associated with timely order fulfillment
- Generating detailed shop floor operating schedules
- Updating and maintaining automated scheduling system
- Formulating and analyzing order status and inventory reports
- Aiding in the development of work instructions and business processes
- Ensuring schedule adherence to production plan
- Managing excess inventory levels to maximize turnover while ensuring high order fulfillment

- Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
