DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
Position will have two phases – startup and commissioning to fully operational once project is complete. Responsible for the production operations during the shift. Lead training of operators and development of operational procedures. Responsible for health & safety, quality and environment, and shift team management for assigned team.
The Basics:
- Minimum of High school diploma or GED required
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field and/or 4 years of military leadership experience and/or 4 years of progressive leadership experience in a Steel Mill
- Minimum of 2 years of rolling mill experience
- Computer skills to include Microsoft Office
- Ability to travel internationally
The Extras:
- Advanced process control knowledge
- Steel industry experience preferred
- Dayforce and/or SAP experience preferred

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Project Execution and Startup Phase:
- Perform construction site safety walkthroughs and establish supervisor safety contacts
- Lead training of operations staff and development of operational procedures prior to startup
- Perform miscellaneous tasks to support construction activities including drone mapping for construction progress tracking
- Evaluate and interview candidates for operators positions during hiring process
- Ensure HIRAC safety reviews are performed for operating procedures and contribute to them
- Ensure development of energy control procedures which meet operational needs
- Perform operational early equipment management reviews/inspections of OEM equipment
- Contribute to development of equipment commissioning plan and factory acceptance testing (performance guarantees)
Operations Phase:
- Supervises and directs operations personnel on the specific duties to be accomplished each day
- Enforces company policies using coaching and disciplinary recommendations
- Performs the shift turnover with the previous and following shifts
- Works closely with Maintenance team to diagnose problems
- Works on continuous improvement of process
- Manages personnel work schedules, attendance and timekeeping
- Schedules and assigns required training for direct reports
- Responsible for documentation and reporting of issues in mill with root cause analysis and recommends solutions

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Office and Industrial setting
- During first 18 months, Construction setting
- Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL
- Initial construction phase will be on days including weekend coverage eventually transitioning to Shift Work – Rotating 12 hour shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays; must be flexible to work to meet business needs
