SAP Engineer - APO Production Planning (Local or Remote)

Located in Calvert, 35 miles north of Mobile, Alabama, our state-of-the-art steel processing facility has the capacity to process 5.3 million tons of high-value steel grades in the North America market. OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY/PURPOSE OF POSITION:

  • Diagnose problems and develop and implement solutions in SAP APO (PPDS & CIF) & SAP PP
  • Effectively understand relevant business processes so that they can be modeled in internal systems
  • Perform highly complex and demanding tasks dealing with the analysis and design of solutions serving business line and functional units

 

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:          

  1. Provides necessary coordination, facilitating interactive analysis and design sessions with representatives of business line and functional units
  2. Provides guidance to business and functional units in developing tests and training plans and materials
  3. Carries out detailed system design and writes specs for development
  4. Specifies and applies testing and quality monitoring procedures
  5. Provides day-to-day user support, as well as drives improved user productivity through developing and implementing new business process and systems solutions

EDUCATION, ACCREDITATION & EXPERIENCE: Technical expertise / years of experience in the field

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, or Computer Science or combination of post-secondary education and related experience

 

KNOWLEDGE:

  • 5+ years of experience in SAP configuration and/or implementation
  • Detailed understanding of SAP APO PP/DS is required, knowledge in the other SAP APO modules DP, PPDS, GATP & CIF and SAP PP preferred
  • Experience with SAP HANA, SAP BOBJ, and SAP Variant Configuration is a plus
  • Familiarity with SCM and/or ECC architecture
  • Knowledge of SAP maintenance tools. Able to competently handle a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills

 

SKILLS:

  • At least one full lifecycle implementation of SAP
  • Should have demonstrated knowledge about manufacturing processes in a Steel producer/processor industry or similar manufacturing environment
  • Project management skills (project plan development and tracking, issue resolution, risk mitigation, metrics development and tracking)
  • Proficiency in MS Office products
  • Demonstrates strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to competently handle a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal communications skills, written and verbal
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic and displays a high degree of professionalism

 

LOCATION:

  • Site is located in Calvert, Alabama
  • Position could be remote or local
  • If remote, will require periodic travel to site location
  • If local, will be allotted days to work from home

HOURS OF WORK:

  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
