DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

 

The ideal candidate will lead the design and execution of ArcelorMittal Calvert’s annual SOX compliance program, ensuring effective internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) to support the company’s SOX certification. This role involves conducting in-depth assessments across a wide range of business processes, participating in annual scoping and risk assessments, and supporting and meeting ArcelorMittal Calvert’s business goals.

 

The Basics

 

  • Bachelor's degree is required in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field, and 5+ years of job-related experience is required.
  • Working knowledge of SAP applications.
  • Ability to develop and deliver technical presentations at senior management and executive level.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated expertise in accounting and finance principles, along with advanced proficiency in financial systems and technology platforms. Strong orientation toward risk management and internal control practices is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of the COSO internal control framework and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance requirements is required, with proven experience implementing and maintaining related controls.

 

The Extras

 

  • Prior Big 4 accounting firm experience is an asset.
  • At least one advanced professional designation (e.g. CPA, CMA, MBA, CGA, CIA, CISA) is preferred. Two or more professional designations are an asset.
  • Advanced Knowledge in AuditBoard is an asset.
  • Sound working knowledge of large ERP systems preferably SAP modules FI & CO.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:      

 

  • Provide training to co-workers and help maintain Standard Operating Procedures, Best Practices and Job Safe Practices to ensure the transfer of knowledge to others.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for SOX compliance at ArcelorMittal Calvert, overseeing unit-level coordination and execution.
  • Lead the annual SOX compliance program for the unit, aligning with the company’s overall SOX governance standards and global calendar. 
  • Partner with segment and corporate SOX teams to ensure consistency in expectations, methodologies, remediation efforts, and reporting practices. 
  • Conduct the annual SOX account risk assessment and establish SOX priorities and workplan for the unit. 
  • Coordinate and support SOX walkthroughs, control testing, and audit evidence collection in partnership with internal and external auditors.
  • Partner with the IT department to ensure appropriate IT controls design for current and future state processes and implementation. 
  • Perform severity assessments and collaborate with process/control owners to ensure timely remediation of identified control deficiencies or audit findings.
  • Maintain and update SOX documentation in AuditBoard, including risk and control matrices (RCMs), process narratives, flowcharts, and evidence of control execution. Monitor changes in business processes, systems, or personnel to evaluate and update control design as needed. 
  • Create and draft new processes and control documentation as needed, ensuring all changes are accurately reflected and compliant with SOX requirements. 
  • Provide training, communication, and guidance to control owners and stakeholders on SOX compliance requirements and internal control best practices. 
  • Proactively identify gaps or conflicts in existing processes, creating efficiencies or new processes as required.

  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
