Senior Engineer SAP Functional Support - SD/LE

Located in Calvert, 35 miles north of Mobile, Alabama, our state-of-the-art steel processing facility has the capacity to process 5.3 million tons of high-value steel grades in the North America market. The ideal candidate will be capable of diagnosing problems and developing and implementing solutions in SAP SD/LE & APO (DP & GATP), will effectively understand relevant business processes and model them internally, as well as perform highly complex tasks dealing with the analysis and design of solutions serving both the business line and functional units to support the business needs of AM/NS Calvert.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science, or combination of post-secondary education and related experience required
  • 5+ years minimum experience in SAP configuration and/or implementation
  • Detailed understanding of SAP SD/LE is required
  • Familiarity with SCM and/or ECC architecture necessary
  • Involved with at least one full lifecycle implementation of SAP
  • Should have demonstrated knowledge about manufacturing processes in a steel producer/processor industry or similar manufacturing environment
  • Project management skills needed (i.e. project plan development and tracking, issue resolution, risk mitigation, metrics development and tracking)
  • Proficiency in MS Office products



  • Knowledge in the other SAP APO modules: DP, PPDS, GATP, CIF, and SAP PP preferred
  • Experience with SAP HANA, SAP BOBJ, and SAP Variant Configuration is a plus
  • Knowledge of SAP maintenance tools beneficial




  • Provides necessary coordination, facilitating interactive analysis and design sessions with representatives of business line and functional units
  • Provides guidance to business and functional units in developing tests and training plans and materials
  • Carries out detailed system design and writes specs for development
  • Specifies and applies testing and quality monitoring procedures
  • Provides day-to-day user support, as well as drives improved user productivity through developing and implementing new business process and systems solutions

  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
