DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

This position will coordinate with the talent acquisition team to support the workforce development programs through recruitment events and activities, as well as facilitating training and development of apprentices and interns. The Sr. Learning and Development Representative will also provide skills training and support continuous improvement and training programs guided by the Learning & Development objectives to meet the business goals of AM/NS Calvert. 

 

The Basics:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Organization Development or Engineering field, or a combination of post-secondary education and related experience
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience as a Trainer: developing training material and giving presentations to support skills enhancement
  • Project Management experience
  • Industrial maintenance experience and knowledge
  • Experience designing and delivering training in at least one of the following areas: industrial hydraulic practices, lubrication, equipment reliability, electrical maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or HVAC
  • At least one year of direct involvement with workforce development programs (i.e. apprenticeships, internships)
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)

The Extras:

  • Relationships with area schools at K-12 level, technical schools and/or colleges preferred
  • Strong Maintenance experience and understanding applied in the steel industry or similar industry setting preferred
  • Strong understanding of Root Cause Failure Analysis to help design and implement sitewide training solutions preferred

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Assists with the development and implementation of continuous improvement plans and initiatives to close identified learning gaps aligned to business drivers
  • Assists in the consulting with other areas of HR for professional advice and contracting of specialized services
  • Assists in the analysis, determination, development, and implementation of cost-effective knowledge theory/learning strategies to achieve the business objectives and support the required skill building and development for employees at the business unit/department/organizational level
  • Assists with the coordination and the maintaining of learning and development evaluation procedures and analysis of feedback to effectively evaluate the impact of development activities at all levels
  • Coordinates and facilitates L&D administration within the business unit/department/organizational level
  • Utilizes standards, tools, systems, and processes that support learning & development
  • Coordinates Learning Management System(s) activities at the business unit/department/organizational level
  • Assists with the coordination of the business unit/department activities to ensure compliance of the L&D process to the external customer audit
  • Assists with the coordination and support of any change management activities associated with the deployment of L&D processes at the business unit/department/organizational level
  • Assists in the sustainment of the L&D process by ensuring all route team content developed is cascaded into all applicable elements of the CBLS
  • Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships to continually identify, prioritize, and evaluate learning & development opportunities (within assigned areas of responsibility)
  • Participates in special projects as needed
  • Coordinates and manages internal and external development programs and training providers
  • Assists in developing and executing maintenance and production focused training programs
  • Assists in the recruitment of candidates and facilitation of the apprenticeship program
  • Visits area schools to promote programs and manufacturing career pathways
  • Represents the company as a subject matter expert at workforce development and educational events
  • Assists in maintaining relationships with the governing bodies
  • Assists in the review of budget, and performance, audit to ensure compliance to the program
  • Assists with recommendations for improvement to development opportunities
  • Assists with input into the hiring of candidates aligned to the workforce plan

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Office and Industrial setting
  • Must be willing to wear PPE to include safety glasses, fire rated jacket/pants/shirts, appropriate footwear, and safety vests, as required
  • Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL
  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
