Located in Calvert, 35 miles north of Mobile, Alabama, our state-of-the-art steel processing facility has the capacity to process 5.3 million tons of high-value steel grades in the North America market. OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY/PURPOSE OF POSITION: Ensuring the readiness and availability of the electrical, and in some cases the mechanical, functionality of the production lines in the HSM.

 

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:          

  1. Supports the coordinator, leads, senior maintenance technicians, and process coordinators in fulfillment of tasks
  2. Responsible for the overall electrical, and in some cases also mechanical, maintenance of the lines on a turn basis in performing required scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and trouble-shooting
  3. Analysis, solving and reporting of electrical problems and failures
  4. Support development of improvement programs
  5. Ensure proper safety, environmental, quality and housekeeping responsibilities are maintained
  6. Support the mechanical colleagues in failure investigation
  7. Takeover and fulfilling of maintenance work orders on a scheduled and unscheduled basis
  8. Order spare parts from the spare part warehouse.
  9. Perform and assist in Lock Out Try Out of equipment, systems, and sub-systems
  10. Ensures proper turnover with on-coming and off-going crew during shift change
  11. Cooperation with other maintenance departments.
  12. Reporting of maintenance issues and breakdowns in SAP
  13. Fulfills the commitment to ensure a safe and healthy work environment

  15. Demonstrates commitment to teamwork by fostering an environment that embodies trust and respect
  16. Ensure working knowledge of competencies as defined in ISO 14001 (current version), IATF 16949 (current version), and ISO 17025 (current version)

 

EDUCATION, ACCREDITATION & EXPERIENCE: Technical expertise / years of experience in the field

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Internship or Associates Degree preferred
  • 3 years’ electrical maintenance experience in an industrial setting preferred
  • Experience in the steel industry preferred

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Knowledge / Skills required

  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and understand electrical/electronic components/inverters
  • Basics of digital technology, programmable logic controllers (PLC)
  • Ability to work with electrical measurement
  • Knowledge of AC motors, drives, sensors and actors
  • Knowledge of switchgears
  • Knowledge of network technology Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic and mechanical drawings as well as P&ID's
  • Prefer experience and knowledge of coil transport systems, knowledge of furnaces, power distribution systems, motors, variable frequency drives, automation systems, measurement systems, instrumentation equipment, and hydraulic systems
  • Experience with SAP
  • Demonstrates strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to competently handle a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal communications skills, written and verbal
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic and displays a high degree of professionalism
  • Interest and ability to work at our site location in Calvert, Alabama 

               

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Industrial/mill environment

                    

HOURS OF WORK:

  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads

 

LEVEL POTENTIAL:

  • Level 3
