DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

The ideal candidate will provide support through direct supervision, coordination, and assisting with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting within the highly automated Central Testing Laboratory to meet the business goals of AM/NS Calvert. 

The Basics:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a combination of education and relevant experience in operations management, predictive/preventative maintenance, or a similar field
  • 4+ years of military leadership experience OR 4+ years in progressively responsible roles in an industrial environment or steel mill
  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, web applications, SAP and/or LIMS
  • Must demonstrate a willingness to lead by example and hold direct reports accountable

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Supervise and lead laboratory personnel in completing specific duties each day
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance of machining equipment and precision testing machines
  • Comply with and enforce company policies through coaching and disciplinary recommendations
  • Monitor crew performance and identify opportunities for improvement and cost savings
  • Monitor operational safety requirements of equipment and identify potential hazards
  • Complete layered evaluations and supervisor safety contacts with crews and equipment
  • Work on continuous improvement of methods in an ISO/IATF 17025 A2LA accredited laboratory
  • Manage personnel work schedules, attendance, and timekeeping using web applications
  • Monitor required training for direct reports and assign training as needed
  • Monitor production throughput of testing and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Enter purchase requests for consumables and equipment repairs
  • Conduct safety meetings with staff and monitor safety compliance with visitors, tours, and auditors
  • Ensure the safety, order, and cleanliness of the area
  • Commit to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Office and Industrial setting in the Central Test Lab
  • Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL
  • Shift Work – Rotating 12-hour shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays
