Team Manager - Procurement Excellence

Located in Calvert, 35 miles north of Mobile, Alabama, our state-of-the-art steel processing facility has the capacity to process 5.3 million tons of high-value steel grades in the North America market. OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Lead, support, and coach a team dedicated to Procurement Excellence to be achieved through the research, evaluation, and implementation of innovation technologies [potential technologies include advanced business analytics and collaboration tools, increased automation, AI, and 3D printing] 
  • Collaborate with all Procurement areas, including Central Warehouse Operations and External Logistics, to maximize savings through the development of support analyses tools and best practices, including the creation of a “knowledge library” to support strategic sourcing decisions
  • Develop departmental dashboards with key performance indicators to track performance, and work with the Procurement team to define action plans for deviation root causes

 

EDUCATION & ACCREDITATION 

  • BS in Finance/Accounting, IT, Engineering or Business Administration
  • Minimum of 1 years of management experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with quantitative analysis and performance management systems

 

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

  • Exceptional quantitative, analytical, and project management skills
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal communications skills with the ability to make presentations to top management

 

KNOWLEDGE: 

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with SAP [preferably with SRM, MM and WM]
  • PC and software literate, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and relational databases.
  • Market and Industry research/analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing best practices   
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic and displays a high degree of professionalism

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:      

  • Lead the research, development and implementation of Procurement improvement initiatives
  • Establish and communicate relevant benchmarks and industry indicators to all Procurement areas
  • Facilitate the development of Spend Intelligence tools by mapping and categorizing departmental spending
  • Work with departmental stakeholders to develop effective cost-reduction strategies and execution plans
  • Develop and facilitate the Performance Management processes used to track departmental progress
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to drive business value and effective decision making
  • Provide governance regarding departmental policies and procedures
  • Fulfill the commitment to ensure a safe and healthy work environment

HOURS OF WORK:

  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
