DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

The Integrated Quality Team Manager of Product Control will lead a team of engineers and specialists who provide technical and administrative support to internal, external, and customer manufacturing operations regarding product quality and performance issues. 

BASICS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Business Management, combination of post-secondary education and related experience, or equivalent work experience
  • Five years of steel or steel-related or automotive stamping plant experience in quality assurance, customer technical service, product development and/or manufacturing
  • Direct leadership experience or proven high-level success of key process indicators and performance objectives
  • Knowledge of steelmaking, hot roll, cold roll, and coated processes, automotive applications and specifications
  • Knowledge of quality systems and processes
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products
  • MES knowledge and experience

EXTRAS:

  • SAP knowledge and experience preferred
  • Power BI experience preferred
  • Understand fundamentals of TOMIS database system
  • Nimbus knowledge and experience
  • Automated inspection system knowledge and experience

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Lead or direct team members to:
    • Investigate significant rejections or claims and lead containment, investigation, root cause and corrective measures
    • Facilitate quality problem resolution throughout the entire supply chain
    • Support refinement of inspection practices and standards
    • Recommend improvements to Mill Quality, Operations, Order Entry, and Technology
    • Support continuous improvement of quality tools such as ASIS, CGSIS, GPQS
  • Engage the support of operations to identify, contain, and resolve the source of defective material reported by the technical service team
  • Report unsatisfactory operating conditions causing production of defective material
  • Report & Track Quality Performance and trends to all levels of the organization
  • Participate in quality audits and certification processes.
  • Interface with Customer Technical Services and be primary point of contact for all product performance issues such as metallurgical, dimensional, surface or any other customer concern
  • Communicate customer expectations to the manufacturing operations
  • Travel to customer’s facilities with minimal notice to address quality performance issues
  • Coordinate quality problem resolution with manufacturing operations and participate in individual operating quality problem solving
  • Identify and implement changes to address issues affecting quality, manufacturing or customer performance; actions may require crossing departmental boundaries
  • Engage with team members to establish performance objectives and measure and provide feedback to achieving those goals
  • Assess team member and organizational needs for developmental objective setting
  • Provide regular coaching and feedback regarding the eight key competencies

  • Demonstrates commitment to teamwork by fostering an environment that embodies trust and respect
  • Ensure working knowledge of competencies as defined in ISO 14001 (current version), IATF 16949 (current version), and ISO 17025 (current version)

            

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Routine exposure to mill conditions, including, but not limited to; climbing, heat, dust, etc., and must be able to inspect, monitor and engage in production areas and lines
  • Office Environment
  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
  • Rotating weekend duty coverage
  • May require up to 10% travel
