Team Manager - Project Management

Created in February 2014 through a 50/50 joint venture of the world’s largest and second largest steelmakers, ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel Corporation, AM/NS Calvert is located in Calvert, AL.  Our state-of-the-art steel processing facility has the capacity to process 5.3 million tons of high-value steel grades including hot rolled bands, hot rolled pickled and oiled, cold rolled, and advanced coated products for the automotive, pipe and tube, appliance/HVAC, service center and construction industries in the NAFTA market.  

AM/NS Calvert products are marketed in NAFTA through managing joint venture partner ArcelorMittal.

 

 

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Manage the Project Management team within the Manufacturing Technology group.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:          

  • Management of the Capital Portfolio and associated business planning activities.
  • Organizing, planning, and managing engineering construction and capital expenditures relating to plant expansions
  • Provide development, management, and continuous improvement of the project management system.
  • Define, update, and manage process maps and associated instructions and forms utilized for project management.
  • Manage Capital budget, project scheduling, manning and resource allocation.
  • Provide communication of company policies, notices, conducting oral and written performance reviews and equitable assignment of work to team members
  • Identify and implement best practices for project management for cost efficiencies
  • Lead advanced manufacturing initiatives on the site to leverage the latest technology for improved manufacturing efficiency.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of both Equipment and Product/Process performance, thereby improving the overall Business Unit performance.
  • Benchmark – Participates in identifying best in class technical benchmarks, performance gaps and the development of plans to close the gaps.
  • Participates in the development and execution of the Business Plan.

  • Ensure working knowledge of competencies as defined in ISO 14001:2015, IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 17025:2017 

 

EDUCATION & ACCREDITATION:

  •  Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a combination of education and experience 
  • 10 years demonstrated experience supporting engineering and project management requirements in a steel mill, or other heavy industrial environment
  • Project Management Professional certification preferred.

 

KNOWLEDGE:   

  • Experience with planning and scheduling
  • Experience managing and coordinating contractors to ensure timely completion of jobs
  • Extensive experience with project and process documentation

  • Demonstrates strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to competently handle a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal communications skills, written and verbal
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic and displays a high degree of professionalism
  • Interest and ability to work at our site location in Calvert, Alabama

HOURS OF WORK:

  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
