Team Manager - Reliability, Central Maintenance

Located in Calvert, 35 miles north of Mobile, Alabama, our state-of-the-art steel processing facility has the capacity to process 5.3 million tons of high-value steel grades in the North America market. OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY/PURPOSE OF POSITION:  Provides technical support/leadership over the Central Maintenance Reliability team to achieve continuous improvement over site equipment maintenance plans utilizing the AM/NS maintenance philosophy. 

 

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:          

  • Provides Reliability engineering support to the Maintenance Team
  • Assigns subject matter experts for the Reliability Engineering practices
  • Initiates/assigns Root Cause Analysis of equipment failures and major breakdowns
  • Identifies and proposes solutions for repeat equipment failures and major breakdowns
  • Participates/assigns in the execution of critical equipment inspections and analysis
  • Analyzes Equipment data, recommended maintenance plans, drawings, etc.
  • Oversees the writing of technically based Equipment Maintenance Plans
  • Performs tracking and trending of equipment maintenance performance
  • Fulfills the commitment to ensure a safe and healthy work environment
  • Fulfills the responsibilities required to achieve the Quality Commitment
  • Demonstrates commitment to teamwork by fostering an environment that embodies trust and respect
  • Ensure working knowledge of competencies as defined in ISO 14001 (current version), IATF 16949 (current version), and ISO 17025 (current version)

 

EDUCATION, ACCREDITATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience, Blackbelt training, Lean Six Sigma a plus
  • Minimum of 7 years job related experience in related manufacturing operations or maintenance including 2 years in a manager role.
  • 5-10 years’ experience with direct responsibility for the operation, maintenance and reliability of complex mechanical/electrical systems.

  • Able to competently handle a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal communications skills, written and verbal
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic and displays a high degree of professionalism
  • Interest and ability to work at our site location in Calvert, Alabama

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Office Environment    
  • Industrial/mill environment

                    

HOURS OF WORK:

  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads

 

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES – LEVEL OF IMPACT: (Tie to Main Accountabilities section above)

  • Provide leadership to the Central Maintenance Reliability Team
  • Utilize the team to improve site wide maintenance improvements
  • Develop team atmosphere within the group and through-out the operating units

 

DECISION MAKING:  This position will need to learn the strengths and weaknesses of their team to better assign members to problematic areas of the plant to ensure a successful outcome.  

 

STAKEHOLDERS: All departments & personnel will be affected by this group but mainly operations & maintenance.  This position & group will need to be recognized as the “go-to” group when help is needed.
