ArcelorMittal North America is seeking an Accounting Manager who will take ownership of the accounting activities for the North America headquarters in the United States. Utilizing hands-on accounting experience and an in-depth understanding of accounting principles and company practices, the Accounting Manager will perform accounting activities and financial analyses, monitor internal controls, and make recommendations to the company. This position will manage and be the point of contact for accountants and serving to enforce and monitor compliance with company-wide accounting policies and procedures. The position reports to our General Manager Finance Reporting and Systems and will provide functional expertise within general ledger and consolidation, as well as manage accounting reports, closings, and intracompany payments.
Responsibilities
The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Manages and develop the accounting staff.
- Perform the accounting activities for North America headquarters.
- Manage the books, closings, and proper reconciliation of accounts.
- Manage the intracompany billing and payments, cost allocation, insurance allocation, and legal fees.
- Coordinate the preparation of annual budget for North American headquarters’ departments collaboratively with department manage.
- Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
- Prepare and distribute monthly performance reports to department managers and support those managers to understand their spend performance versus budget.
- Review cost center activity, analyze results and coordinate applicable journal entries.
- Performs account analysis, calculation of accruals, and support accounting activities.
- Review general ledger entries for accuracy and timeliness.
- Reconciles and analyzes individual accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Perform intercompany billing and reconciliation process.
- Perform month end insurance reconciliations.
- Review financial information and documents.
- Collaborate with team members to provide necessary financial reports to senior-level managers.
- Look for and provide solutions for accounting irregularities.
- Design and implement improvements to budgeting and forecasting processes resulting in improved timeliness, transparency, and/or management decision making.
- Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
- Guide and train junior and new associates and coordinate cross training of existing associates.
- Perform other related duties as well as works on special projects as necessary or assigned.
Deliverables & performance KPIs
- Closing the books on time with no errors.
- Having intercompany invoices issued and paid in a timely fashion.
- Accurate budget.
Requirements
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of SAP FI (Record to Report), MM (Procure to Pay), SD (Invoice to Cash).
- 2+ years leadership with a dedication to driving and achieving results.
Other requirements
- CPA - Certified Public Accountant license.
- Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment is helpful.
- Proficiency with bookkeeping software and Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint).
- Financial Reporting, Budgeting and Consolidations experience.
- Experience managing staff, proactive mindset, and positive attitude.
Language
- Fluent in English - good communication for discussion, presentation, and meetings preparation.

- Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data accurately and timely.
- Strong understanding of accounting and management principles.
- Strong analytical, detail-oriented, and problem-solving skills.

- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees.
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams and with deadlines.
