The role:  

ArcelorMittal Global Research & Development Center is looking for a highly skilled and motivated engineer to provide technical expertise and vehicle pre-program and program support to ArcelorMittal automotive customers’ team in North America. Candidate will be required to support the R&D safety management system, understand automotive technology needs, and clearly translate these needs to ArcelorMittal stakeholders (R&D, commercial, production).  The candidate will be required to utilize technical knowledge and resources in order to create value for ArcelorMittal and automotive OEMs.

 

Job Duties:

  • Develop, maintain and interact with key automotive engineering contacts at General Motors (GM) Engineering centers. 
  • Assist the ArcelorMittal (AM) customer team in value engineering, develop innovative cost-savings proposals.  
  • Pilot steel product development needed by the automotive customer. 
  • Coordinate and seek material and facility approval and qualifications, as needed, and support the customer team business goals.
  • Support the Customer Team and customer, and clearly understand and identify product issues, market trends and forecasts, customer solutions and provide competitive intelligence.
  • Maintain a sound knowledge of AM Global products in order to recommend applications solutions to customers’ requested product needs, including tubes and laser welded blanks.
  • Work closely with the AM Steel Solutions group in order to support co-engineering activities and use of S-in Motion® applications.
  • Contribute to and execute the AM Customer Strategy for GM (in conjunction with Sales and Marketing), to maximize AM business and return maximum value to ArcelorMittal.

 

Education Requirements: 

B.S. (minimum) or M.S. (preferred) in Materials or Mechanical Engineering.

 

Minimum  Requirements:

  • 5 years of minimum related experience in the automotive or steel industry.
  • Must be knowledgeable in automotive sheet steel products/processes and their attributes and understand critical characteristics and how these translate to automotive design and manufacturing.
