We are looking for an Import Specialist


Role Accountabilities



Seeking detail-oriented self-starter to assist in handling the day to day operational responsibilities of an active steel products import desk to compliant entry realization. This position is part of the Logistics Department and reports to the Manager of Import/Export Operations.



Assist the Manager of Import/Export Operations with all import functions related to the importation of 20-60 International vessels per month, including tracking vessels, gathering and vetting import documents, providing B/L instruction, preparing broker letters, coding tariff numbers, splitting out types of entries, valuation, maintaining Ace & C-TPAT system, working with customs brokers to ensure timely and accurate receipt/processing of all shipments, checking Customs documents (7501, 3461) for accuracy, coding invoices for payment, preparing reports, all within a very dynamic and compliance sensitive environment.



  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an import environment, Customs brokerage house, trading company, etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (International Business/Supply Chain a plus)
  • Familiarity with Import/Export functions preferred
  • Familiarity with Incoterms preferred
  • Familiarity with Supply Chain functions preferred
  • Must be well organized with good time management and highly detail oriented
  • Knowledge of and experience with breakbulk shipping preferred
  • Ability to be a self-starter, meet deadlines, and coordinate among multiple teams both internal and external is required
  • Good written and verbal skills required
  • Experience with SAP a plus
  • Experience with the ACE import system a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite needed, especially Excel
