Stories in Sustainability: Jim & Brittany
Family Events
Every July 1, ArcelorMittal Dofasco welcomes approximately 10,000 people to our Recreation Park to celebrate Canada Day. The day has evolved from employee family picnics to a focus on children's entertainment with a sprawling offer of bouncy castles, water activities, face painting, live music, food and more. Of course, the day still ends with the region's most renowned firework show!
Our Christmas party has changed location several times, hit attendance peaks of over 38,000 - with entertainment as elaborate as dancing elephants - but most things have stayed just the way they've always been. Children’s eyes beaming with excitement, colleagues introducing their families to one another, past employees reuniting and management expressing their appreciation to all for a year’s hard work.
Volunteering & Investments
TeamOrange
ArcelorMittal Dofasco employees are passionate about community and log thousands of hours each year to important causes across the region. You’ll find us helping out at local food banks to coaching minor sport and everything in between, both on our own and through our 'volunteer corps', TeamOrange.
Corporate Investments and Sponsorship
Each year, Dofasco’s management committee selects companies and causes to support. Through our Corporate Community Investment Fund, the team focuses on arts and culture; education; environment and conservation; health and human services; and sports and recreation. Dofasco has made major capital investments in community partners dedicated to helping the region and its residents grow.
ArcelorMittal Dofasco’s signature orange logo will also been seen at important community events across Canada including the country’s national university football championship ArcelorMittal Vanier Cup and North America’s oldest road race, The Around the Bay.
Employee Investments
It is not only the company that funds local initiatives, Dofasco employees are known for their generosity. Since WWII, Dofasco employees have donated a portion of their paycheck to the Employee Donation Fund for local causes, raising an impressive $40 million over 70 years.
