Licensed Millwright

 

We are looking for results driven qualified Millwrights who want to be part of our progressive maintenance team. Individuals who want to work in a safety driven environment, who can efficiently and effectively execute all aspects of the Millwright trade; rebuilding, repairing, and troubleshooting equipment to support our manufacturing operation's needs.

Millwrights applying for opportunities will be considered for roles based on previous skills and experience and will be assigned to one of following groups.

 

Central Trades and Services (CTS) Field

Our Central Trades and Services (CTS) Field team consists of several different groups that are based out of the various Business Units across the plant. The field groups encompass multiple tradespersons who are responsible for carrying out shutdown execution work, daily preventative maintenance tasks as well as shutdown prep/post work.

 

Asset Maintenance

Our asset tradespeople are dedicated to one of our production asset teams where they are responsible for the equipment in these areas. These asset areas include Cokemaking, Ironmaking, Steelmaking, Material Handling and Logistics, Hot Mill, Cold Roll Tin, Galvanize, Utilities, Pickling and Cold Rolling. Millwrights assigned to an asset team responsible for ensuring the reliability of our production facilities which includes daily preventative maintenance tasks as well as shutdown prep/post work.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Work collaboratively as part of a team made up of multiple trades.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines and wear all required personal protective equipment
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect, troubleshoot, and investigate irregularities
  • Perform mechanical maintenance functions on all equipment to maintain and improve equipment reliability
  • Repair or replace machinery parts as required including full equipment rebuilds
  • Interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematic, and drawings to determine work procedures and/or order necessary parts
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance
  • Assist with proactive and reactive troubleshooting and repairs of production equipment to minimize production downtime and delays
  • Actively contribute to the preventative maintenance program by providing recommendations for improvement

 

What You Will Bring:

  • 433A or 426A Certificate of Qualification or Interprovincial Red Seal
  • Consideration will be given to candidates with a 426A Construction Millwright Certificate of Qualification
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Advanced trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Basic personal computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Capable of physically demanding work (both indoors and outdoors)
  • Self-starter able to follow directions and take initiative
  • Previous experience in a heavy industry or manufacturing environment

 

Where You’ll Work:

  • Heavy industrial environment
  • Depending on the area of the plant use of respirators, fresh air breathing apparatus and standard plant safety equipment may also be required
  • Exposure to noise, heights, confined spaces, lighting conditions, materials, products and by-products associated with the manufacture of steel, temperature and weather extremes that require the use of specialized protective devices or equipment
  • Required to climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding to access elevations, able to crouch for periods of time, push, pull, lift and turn while carrying tools, material and equipment in various parts of the facilities

 

When You’ll Work:

Successful candidates may be placed in one of the following areas with varying hours of work. Candidates will be asked their preference in the application process.

  • Field
    • Core hours are 06:30-15:00 (Monday to Friday)
    • Trades people are scheduled outside of core hours when required to support the shutdown schedule. This could mean your start and end times may vary. 
    • Extended hours may be required for shutdowns, emergency breakdown work and call-in support. 

 

  • Asset
    • Core hours are 12-hour continental shifts
    • Extended hours may be required for shutdowns, emergency breakdown work and call-in support.

  • Bonus paid twice a year based on Company performance on key goals. Your bonus target will be 10% of base salary earnings.
