Steamfitter / Pipefitter

 

We are looking for results driven licensed Steamfitter/Pipefitters who want to be part of our progressive maintenance team. Individuals who want to work in a safety driven environment, who can effeciently and effectively execute all aspects of the Steamfitter or Pipefitter trade. The successful candidate will be part of a team performing maintenance functions on an as needed basis.  As a Steamfitter/Pipefitter you will be required to work effectively with others in a team environment, apply problem-solving methodologies and demonstrate a continuous improvement orientation by seeking new innovative methods of maintaining related processes. 

 

Steamfitters or Pipefitters applying for opportunities will be considered for roles based on previous skills and experience and will be assigned to one of the two groups. 

 

Central Trades and Services (CTS) Field

Our Central Trades and Services (CTS) Field team consists of several different groups that are based out of the various Business Units across the plant. The field groups encompass multiple tradespersons who are responsible for carrying out shutdown execution work, daily preventative maintenance tasks as well as shutdown prep/post work.

 

Asset Maintenance

Our asset tradespeople are dedicated to one of our production asset teams where they are responsible for the equipment in these areas. These asset areas include Cokemaking, Ironmaking, Steelmaking, Material Handling and Logistics, Hot Mill, Cold Roll Tin, Galvanize, Utilities, Pickling and Cold Rolling. Millwrights assigned to an asset team responsible for ensuring the reliability of our production facilities which includes daily preventative maintenance tasks as well as shutdown prep/post work.

 

 

What You'll Do: 

 

  • Perform mechanical maintenance functions on all equipment required to produce quality products for operating facilities within the Business Unit
  • Performing reactive work, trouble shooting and repairing production equipment on a daily basis, preventing or reducing unplanned equipment delays
  • Perform inspections, repairs, rebuilds in both shop and plant environment
  • Maintain, troubleshoot & repair hydraulic systems, once through and closed loop cooling water systems, and the various gas systems within the Business Unit
  • Read/interpret drawings and specifications; interpret mechanical and construction drawings; prepare material lists; perform trade calculations
  • Install and maintain steam, fire protection, piping, hydraulic, pneumatic, environmental, process water, sanitary, codes, acts and regulations to company standards
  • Determine materials and fabrication procedures; field check and verify site drawings to company and industry standard

 

What You'll Bring: 

 

  • Ontario 307A Steamfitter Certificate of Qualification or Interprovincial Red Seal is required
  • Ontario College of Trades membership is required 
  • High school diploma or academic equivalent is required
  • Advanced trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Basic personal computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Capable of physically demanding work (both indoors and outdoors)
  • Self-starter with the ability to follow directions and work in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of fluid power is an asset
  • TSSA G2 or IMT tickets are considered an asset
  • Experience with backflow preventers is considered an asset
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s license is considered an asset

 

Where You'll Work: 

 

  • Heavy industrial environment, requiring 100% of time per week in plant
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment
  • The use of respirators, fresh air breathing apparatus and standard plant safety equipment may also be required
  • Exposure to noise, heights, confined spaces, lighting conditions, materials, products and by-products associated with the manufacture of steel, temperature and weather extremes that require the use of specialized protective devices or equipment
  • Required to climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding to access elevations, able to crouch for periods of time, push, pull, lift and turn while carrying tools, material and equipment in various parts of the facilities

 

When You'll Work: 

 

  • 8- Hour Day Shift - Core Hours are Monday to Friday (6:30 AM - 3:00 PM) 
  • Candidates must be willing to work outside of core hours as required for shutdowns, emergency breakdown work and call-in support. 
    • Rescheduled shifts could include days, afternoons, nights (8 hour and 12 hour shifts
