Overall Responsibility:


Maintain equipment performance at a level that ensures process reliability.




  1. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trade (continuous learning).
  2. Perform trade specific skills as outlined in trade competency criteria.
  3. Fulfill the accountabilities of MMTR (process and teaming) in assigned area.
  4. Follow Work Instructions and provide feedback with changes as required.




  1. Minimum Ontario Certification of Qualification is required.
  2. High School Diploma or GED equivalency is required.
  3. 2-year Community College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technician is an asset.


Knowledge & Skills:


  1. Very good trouble shooting, and problem-solving skills are required.
  2. Good interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  3. Intermediate personal computer and corporate standard software skills are required.
  4. Intermediate Computer Maintenance Management System skills are required.
  5. Good skills in planning and scheduling of maintenance work are required.


Working Conditions:


Heavy industrial requiring 100% of time in plant.  Exposure to noise; heights; confined spaces, poor lighting conditions, material, products, and by-products associated with the manufacture of steel, temperature and weather extremes that may require the use of specialized protective devices or equipment. Required to climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding to access elevations, able to crouch for periods of time, push, pull, lift, and turn while carrying tools, material and equipment in various parts of the facilities.


Hours of Work:


8-hour days/afternoons Monday - Friday with occasional night shift.  May be required to be available for call-ins and carry a pager/cell phone.
