Background  

   

ArcelorMittal Dofasco operates a world class computer integrated manufacturing facility in Hamilton, utilizing state of the art information technologies.  The Process Automation Department is responsible for large scale, high impact computer software application systems that are integral to manufacturing processes, from raw materials to finished products.  We continually stretch the limits and capability of automation, to enable ArcelorMittal Dofasco’s industry leading performance.   

   

Who are we looking for? 

  

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Process Automation department. The successful candidate has professional experience in one or more of the related areas; software development, working with automated systems, manufacturing operations or operations technology, with education in the fields of Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Physics or Chemical Engineering.  The successful candidate will be part of a team whose mandate is to develop, maintain, and improve software applications and data systems, while staying up-to-date on technology trends.

The successful candidate’s position title (Analyst / Sr Analyst / Specialist / Sr Specialist / Technical Lead) will be dependent on their qualifications and work experience. 

  

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Participate in the development and support of software-based applications
  • Participate in the development and support of manufacturing data collections systems

  • Support cross-functional teams to identify and develop new applications and data systems

  • Monitor and improve applications to improve performance

  • Stay current on latest relevant technologies and trends 

 

Desired Skills & Experience:  

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline 

  • Formal software training and experience is required 

  • Experience with Object-oriented programming using C++, C# or Java  
  • Capable of analyzing technical information and quickly learning new technical skills  

  • Advanced skills in problem investigation, analysis and solving.  

  • Highly collaborative team player 

  • Professional  work experience

Work Expectations: 

 

  • Normal hours of work are daytime, Monday to Friday (8 hours per day, plus lunch)  

  • Occasional extended, paid hours as required to meet project deadlines or peak workloads  

  • Flexible work hours 

  • Paid on-call rotation

The salary range for this position is $63,000 - $111,000. Starting salary will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and work experience.

    • Participation in our annual bonus plan based on the achievement of Company goals against target metrics and a rate of 10%.
    • Company paid Defined Contribution Pension Plan. No employee contribution required. With employer contributions between 5 and 10%.
