At ArcelorMittal Dofasco we are looking for results driven licensed Pipefitters who want to be part of our progressive maintenance team. Individuals who want to work in a safety driven environment, who can efficiently and effectively execute all aspects of the Pipefitter trade. The successful candidate will be part of a team performing maintenance functions. As a Pipefitter you will be required to work effectively with others in a team environment, apply problem-solving methodologies and demonstrate a continuous improvement orientation by seeking new innovative methods of maintaining related processes.
Accountabilities:
Our asset tradespeople are dedicated to one of our production asset teams, where they are responsible for the equipment in those areas. Pipefitters assigned to an asset team are responsible for ensuring the reliability of our production facilities which includes daily preventative maintenance tasks, breakdown work, troubleshooting and shutdown prep/post work. Your duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Perform mechanical maintenance functions on all equipment required to produce quality products for operating facilities within the Business Unit
- Performing reactive work, trouble shooting and repairing production equipment daily, preventing or reducing unplanned equipment delays
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, rebuilds in both shop and plant environment
- Maintain, troubleshoot & repair hydraulic systems, cooling water systems, strainers, process liquid systems, various gas systems, purges and HP and LP steam systems within the Business Unit
- Read/interpret drawings and specifications; interpret mechanical and construction drawings; prepare material lists; perform trade calculations
- Install and maintain HP and LP steam systems, fire protection, piping, hydraulic, pneumatic, environmental, process water, and sanitary systems while following all codes, acts and regulations to company standards
- Determine materials and fabrication procedures; field check and verify site drawings to company and industry standard
Desired Skills & Experiences:
- Ontario 307A Steamfitter Certificate of Qualification or Interprovincial Red Seal is preferred
- Ontario College of Trades membership is required
- High school diploma or academic equivalent is required
- Advanced trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Basic personal computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Capable of physically demanding work (both indoors and outdoors)
- Self-starter with the ability to follow directions and work in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of fluid power and steam systems is an asset
- TSSA G2 or IMT tickets are considered an asset
- Fabrication, Fitting, Repairing or Modifying piping systems experience is considered an asset
- Valid Ontario Driver’s license is considered an asset
Work Environment:
- Heavy industrial environment, requiring 100% of time per week in plant
- Required to wear personal protective equipment
- The use of respirators is required in most facilities which will require being clean shaven at all times. Fresh air breathing apparatus and standard plant safety equipment may also be required.
- Exposure to noise, heights, confined spaces, lighting conditions, materials, products, and by-products associated with the manufacturing of Coke, temperature and weather extremes that require the use of specialized protective devices or equipment
- Required to climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding to access elevations, able to crouch for periods of time, push, pull, lift, and turn while carrying tools,
- Work outside year-round in all types of weather
Hours of Work:
- Core hours are 06:00-16:30 (Monday to Thursday)
- Trades people are scheduled outside of core hours when required to support the Coke Plant and By-Product shutdown schedule. This could mean your start and end times may vary.
- Extended hours and continental shift work may be required for shutdowns, emergency breakdown work and call-in support.
- Coke Trades people are no longer required to support WFS in other facilities in AMD.
