SAP Production Planning/Detailed Scheduling Functional Specialist

(Permanent Position)

 

We are on a journey to modernize our custom-built applications and expand our core SAP S/4Hana footprint.  We are looking for qualified, results driven employees who want to be part of a collaborative team that is transforming our Supply Chain Management future with the latest solutions from SAP and other technologies.  In addition, we need individuals to develop and execute our improvement initiatives with a focus on continuous improvement and IT best practices.  

 

This "hands on" role will engage with the business areas, the respective managers and system users to define, design, implement, train, and provide on-going support of our SAP solutions.  This role includes the move to SAP S/4Hana Embedded PP/DS for our Supply Chain Management business processes and supporting integration with other SAP modules (e.g. SD, FICO, IBP).  The SAP Functional Specialist will help support the SAP Supply Chain Management business processes and supporting systems across the organization.  At ArcelorMittal Dofasco our approach is for IT and Business users to partner together to innovate and support business processes with technology to improve the users’ experience, improve efficiencies and drive business value. 

 

The main role of the Production Planning/Detailed Scheduling Functional Specialist will:

  • Lead configuration of SAP S/4Hana Embedded Production Planning/Detail Scheduling (PP/DS) modules to meet business needs.
  • Supports or leads system integration activities and the development of complete process solutions incorporating additional SAP Modules (i.e. MM, FI/CO, IBP)
  • Proactively identify and propose business process and/or system enhancements; promote the usage of SAP standard solutions instead of custom development
  • Lead Proof of Concept (POC) & Demonstration of new SAP tools, functionalities
  • Prepare and maintain quality functional and technical specifications, work flows, data flows and required documentation as needed
  • Work with business system owners to update and maintain SAP Roadmap
  • Educate clients on alternatives for system configuration; design and guide clients through decision making and process design.
  • Prepare, execute and provide oversight for test activities within SAP as well as customizations and interfaces, including functional & integration testing; responsible for regression and all critical areas of testing to ensure high quality functioning system that meets client expectations.
  • Support the development of end-user training and documentation.
  • Understand industry trends, keep up-to-date and apply SAP leading practices within the SAP Supply Chain Domain by means of journals, suppliers, presentations, seminars, professional and society meetings (e.g. ASUG) and contacts with other users in the business internal and external to Dofasco.

 

The secondary role of the Production Planning/Detailed Scheduling Functional Specialist will:

  • Support steel industry specific Planning and Scheduling applications
  • Design, develop and deliver systems based on user requirements
  • Create, troubleshoot, and maintain SQL solutions
  • Configure and improve the MES software solution implemented at Dofasco.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts from Dofasco and the vendor.
  • Share pager coverage with team members
  • Provide day-to-day user support of the system including troubleshooting problems and bringing to resolution in a timely manner.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 full cycle implementations of SAP PP/DS (SAP APO or S/4Hana) is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of in-depth functional SAP application knowledge in SAP PP/DS and implementation experience with SAP ECC 6.0 or S/4Hana is required.
  • University bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Computer science, Information Technology or Engineering.
  • APICS certification is considered an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge on Make To Order, Engineer To Order in complex Manufacturing process
  • Excellent knowledge of production planning concepts (S&OP, Master planning, MRP, Scheduling)
  • Experience and/or knowledge of SAP variant configuration, Advanced Available to Promise (aATP) is an asset.
  • Detail knowledge of the Supply Chain Management end to end business process.
  • SAP certification in PP/DS is considered an asset.
  • Experience in SAP Solution Manager 7.2 (ChaRM, Testing Suite, Process Modeling) is considered an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders and senior level management.
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with SAP Partners and Integrators including, contract administration, and annual budgeting.
  • Well-honed change management, communications and conflict management skills.
  • Working Experience with implementation methodologies (e.g. ASAP, Activate) is an asset.
  • Good understanding of SAP problem solving approach (logs, dumps, OSS notes, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of test strategies, test planning and test methodologies.
  • Process Manufacturing domain knowledge is an asset.
  • SQL developer experience required with a preference for Oracle PL/SQL.
  • A good understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.

 

Hours of Work:

  • Standard Monday to Friday office hours
