SOX Compliance Manager

(Permanent Position)

 

Position Details:

 

As a Manager, SOX Compliance, you will be reporting directly to the company CFO, responsible for managing and improving the company’s Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance program and internal controls. The SOx Manager will support management in ensuring that the annual SOX program is conducted effectively and with objectivity, transparency, consistency, quality, and reliability of results within ArcelorMittal Dofasco. This leader performs and coordinates activities related to internal and external audits of company to ensure compliance with enforceable standards while will also having interactions with our North America Segment in the United States, with our corporate in Europe, as well as several companies of the ArcelorMittal Group around the World. The individual works closely with all areas of the organization (accounting, legal, logistics, IT, management and internal audit and the external auditors) and different stakeholders.

 

Overall Responsibility:

 

  • Responsible for supporting and coordinating the design, implementation and monitoring of AMD’s SOx compliance program
  • Leading, planning, and reporting on our compliance implementation/status
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and a dynamic approach to driving control automation

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintain documentation of internal controls and procedures, both for internal controls and SOx key controls to ensure compliance with SOX regulations.
  • Coordinate with external consultants and external auditors to facilitate SOX audits and reviews.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the impact of new business initiatives on SOX compliance.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on SOX requirements and compliance procedures.
  • Analyze and report on the effectiveness of SOX controls to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for SOX-related inquiries and issues, resolving them in a timely manner.
  • Monitor changes in SOX regulations and industry best practices, ensuring timely updates to internal processes and controls.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives to ensure potential internal control and process gaps are adequately addressed. Determine the SOX scope impact of changes to financial processes and IT systems.
  • Partner with IT department to ensure appropriate IT controls design on current and/or future state processes and implementation and design of appropriate compensating controls
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of SOX compliance activities.

 

Education & Accreditation:

 

  • 4-year University degree (Accounting, finance, etc)
  • Recent Big 4 or  national public accounting firm experience at a manager or senior manager role on SEC listed clients and/or clients subject to a PCOAB based audit
  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Professional certification such as CPA, CIA or similar is preferred
  • In-depth understanding of SOX regulations and requirements including IT General Controls

 

Knowledge:

 

  • Expert knowledge of accounting/finance principles and computer systems is required.
  • Knowledge of SAP 4 Hana and SAP systems in general is required
  • Expert knowledge and orientation to risk and control principles is required.
  • Experience with internal controls including process control design, preparation of flowcharts & control matrices, documentation and testing of controls, and identification and reporting of control “gaps”
  • Expert understanding and orientation to process management and improvement is required.
  • Advanced understanding of the steel industry and / or manufacturing industry

 

Skills:

 

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
  • Excellent analytical skills are required.
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to ethical conduct and confidentiality

 

 

Work Environment:

 

  • Office environment with some plant exposure on various projects.
  • This position is eligible for remote work in accordance with our current remote work policy. 

 

Hours of Work:

 

Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required to meet internal/external customer requirements.
