DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

 

The ideal candidate will manage and coordinate the entire spectrum of Project Controls activities for ArcelorMittal for a large capital project. This position will work with the Capital Project Team in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders such as OEMs, Engineering Service Providers and other Contract Partners and be responsible for the management of the Project Control activities including estimating, budget preparation, scheduling, cost control, risk management and reporting.

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Lead development Project Controls strategies for ArcelorMittal including setting the expectations as a part of Technical Scope of Work in the bid packages.
  • Evaluate bid proposals with respect to all project controls elements covering cost, schedule, change management, performance evaluation and management, and contract documentation.
  •  Lead project estimate development, budget preparation, schedule development, cashflow forecasts, in preparation for project funding approvals.
  • Perform cost benchmarking by compiling cost data from current or past projects to validate contractor commercial bids and facilitate external cost benchmarking to validate the bids.
  • Manage various project control activities including implementation of cost control systems, invoice processing activities, monthly cost reporting, trending, cost variance analysis and cash flows. This includes overseeing and managing all project controls deliverables of contract partners.
  • Lead change management of cost and schedule, manage project contingencies effectively and control budget.
  • Manage planning & scheduling activities including development of summary and detailed project schedules, progress and performance monitoring, schedule deviations and recovery plan development providing innovative solutions for planning/scheduling problems.
  • Facilitate and oversee the risk assessment, mitigation, and contingency planning process for the project.
  • Coordinate and issue necessary project reports, including progress, cost and schedule.
  • Ensure full integration between the estimating, cost control, planning/scheduling, and risk management functions within the project.
  • Ensure that invoices are tracked, confirmed, and handed off to Accounts Payable properly. 
  • Ensure right cost accounting and allocation following finance and accounting guidelines of ArcelorMittal. 
  • Oversee contract administration activities.
  • Provide other administrative procedures to project as required.

 

THE BASICS

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in large industrial construction projects specializing in project controls.
  • Certified Cost Professional or Certified Estimating Professional
  • BS/MS in construction or engineering preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience and working understanding of project planning and scheduling, cost control and cost estimating.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead a group responsible for control of planning, scheduling, cost control and cost estimating activities.
  • Ability to interpret and perform analysis of cost and schedule reports and data on your own.
  • Ability to perform Schedule Risk Analysis and Cost Risk Analysis
  • Experience in preparation of cost estimates, validation of cost proposals and benchmarking
  • Working knowledge and skills in the use of software such as Primavera planning/scheduling, cost control programs and estimating programs such as Icarus, Sage Timberline.
  • Clear demonstration of strong project controls competence. 

 

Highly Prefered

  • 15 years of experience
  • Affiliations with institutions such as AACE, Project Controls Academy
  • Familiarity with construction benchmarking bodies such as Compass International
  • Experience as a People Leader with direct reports.
  • Successful experience of having been as Estimator and Cost Controller on large projects

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Office and Industrial setting
  • Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL
  • Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads
