ArcelorMittal Texas HBI is looking for a Head of Human Resources. To be successful in this role you should provide strong leadership and development for our Human Resource team.  The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

 

JOB SUMMARY

Member of the ArcelorMittal Texas HBI leadership team who will participate in developing the vision, strategy, goals, and plans for the company. Responsible for defining and implementing the human resources strategy in support of corporate initiatives.   

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure that HR supports the organization’s role in Health and Safety in every step of the employee life cycle.

  • Provide strong visible leadership across the organization that supports the “Believe in Zero” safety values, culture, and goals.

  • Streamlining, standardizing, and continuously improving HR policies, practices, and processes, and developing the HR organization to be more effective in managing human capital in line with strategic direction of the organization.

  • Supporting, facilitating, and providing coaching to employees and management at all levels in addressing issues and concerns (coaching, counselling, career development, disciplinary actions).

  • Promoting a positive environment that ensures fairness to all employees and accomplishes desired organizational results using appropriate strategies, tactics, and tools.

  • Working with leadership to sustain a work culture that promotes transparency and employee engagement at all levels within the organization.

  • Partner with management on employee performance management, talent identification, development planning, succession planning and leadership assessments.

  • Providing guidance and input to management on restructures and workforce planning.

  • Supporting HR and the business in recruitment, training, compensation, or benefit activities, including disability management and occupational health.

  • Investigating issues and concerns.

  • Supporting change management activities related to employment issues as needed.

  • Ensure HR compliance with CSRD - Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and SOX - Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

  • Ensure a favourable institutional image for the company, through business and social responsibility actions.

  • Any other duties and responsibilities as may be required.

 

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of Human Resources (HR) experience.

  • 5+ years of HR experience in a plant environment; interacting directly with manufacturing floor employees.

  • Experience translating knowledge of FMLA, NLRB, FLSA, ADA, etc., into effective decisions when working with employees at all organizational levels.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Generalist knowledge of staffing, payroll, benefits, learning and development and other HR competencies.

  • Specialized knowledge of HR principles and best practices in employment law.

  • Leadership and managerial skills to oversee the HR department and work with all employees within the company.

  • Good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

  • Strategic planning, project, and time management skills.

  • Organizational skills.

  • Proven expertise solving problems.

  • Budget management skills.

  • Ability to effectively work with people from different locations and diverse backgrounds.

 

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Management, or similar degree.

  • Professional certification(s) in human resources (CP, PHR, SCP, SPHR) or MBA strongly preferred.

 

LANGUAGE

  • Fluent in English - good communication for discussion, presentation, and meetings preparation.

  • Spanish is a plus.

 

OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS

  • Travel: Minimal

  • Location: Portland, Texas

  • Working conditions: office setting - Monday to Friday with extended hours as required due to periods of peak workloads.
