The role:
ArcelorMittal is seeking a metallurgical, materials science or mechanical engineer with a strong background in production and/or mechanical testing of sheet metals. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing testing of sheet steel products and reporting results to qualify ArcelorMittal North America’s products at customers. In addition to processing and/or mechanical testing expertise, background, or certification in project management will be a plus. The candidate will also have the opportunity to conduct research and development activities and work collaboratively with team members at ArcelorMittal Global R&D and with customers.
Job Duties:
Prospective candidate will:
Comply with the company’s Health & Safety policies
- Coordinate activities across multiple production facilities and global laboratories to deliver approvals and other customer projects on time
- Manage product qualification testing for ArcelorMittal’s products in accordance with customer - specific requirements
- Communicate of test results and information to the customer in a timely manner
- Establish a high level of organization to maintain important project documentation and pilot/manage multiple concurrent projects
- Adhere to internal ethical and IP standards to ensure accuracy in all communications, information and data provided to the customer
- Become an internal leader for customer requirements and test procedures
- Display the ability to quickly adapt and learn new skills in accordance with the customers ever changing needs
- Seek to improve value to the customer and ArcelorMittal through automation and data visualization
- Occasional travel to customer facilities to participate in technical exchanges and discussions
. Work in a team environment using shared laboratory resources
Experience Requirements
Minimum/Basic Requirements:
Strong background in ferrous metallurgy, material characterization and/or material production
For Bachelors’ candidates a minimum of 10 years’ experience and for Masters’ candidates a minimum of 5 years’ experience
- Statistical data analysis skills using MS Excel, Minitab, or equivalent tools
- Experience with data visualization and automation software (e.g. PowerBI, PowerApps)
Preferred Requirements:
Previous role(s) in automotive customer support
Strong project management skills
