We are looking for a Tax Analyst
We seek a capable Tax Analyst to play an important role within a dynamic environment. The Tax Analyst will work closely with the Tax Manager, Head of Tax and other colleagues to manage the ArcelorMittal North America US tax function, with a primary focus on tax compliance & reporting.
Responsibilities
- Foster a performance-driven culture through personal effort and by example as well as through adherence to the Company’s values and strategies.
- Assist internal processes as well as work of outside advisors in providing recurring and nonrecurring services.
- Maintain and monitor core aspects of the company’s tax compliance. Heavy emphasis on federal income tax, with potential exposure to international tax & transfer pricing as well as state & local tax (e.g., income/franchise tax, property tax, sales & use tax, etc.).
- Assist in the tax financial reporting process with the support of the outside service provider, including calculating tax balances, reporting through the G/L and the company’s BPM-based consolidation system, and managing audits of financial statement tax balances by the external auditor.
- Maintain and monitor tax return compliance process in collaboration with outside service provider(s) and the Tax Manager, including planning, coordination, preparation, and review. Includes maintaining the tax calendar while ensuring timely filings, calculating & coordinating tax payments, and annual/quarterly/monthly forecasts.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly tax reporting schedules and reconciliations.
- Research and respond to federal, state, and local tax notices.
- Assist in tax controversy, tax planning, tax process improvement, and evaluation of legislative & regulatory developments.
- Perform departmental organizational and administrative duties.
- Opportunity to work with the legal and insurance departments including supporting insurance coverage renewal efforts, administration of claims, compliance & reporting, etc.
- Any other duties/responsibilities as may be required
Minimum Requirements
- Zero to three years of relevant tax experience;
- Self-motivated & detail-oriented;
- Strong analytical and communication skills; and
- Bachelors Degree in accounting, finance, business or related field.
Desired Requirements
- Tax compliance and financial reporting experience;
- Tax controversy or planning experience a plus;
- Knowledge of state & local tax or international tax a plus; and/or
- CPA or Masters of Taxation (JD or MBA a plus) preferred.
